Happy Spring! Is there a more wonderful time of year in Kentucky?! The flowers are blooming, Derby is on it's way and it's high time to switch into aromatic whites and crisp, juicy rosés. I hope you enjoy this month's lineup! Bora Tier: Vin de Savoie Blanc “Abymes” from Domaine Labbé is a crisp, alpine white made from the Jacquère grape, grown in the shadow of the French Alps. This is a wine all about freshness and precision, offering delicate citrus, green apple, and subtle floral notes layered over a distinctly stony, almost saline minerality. Light-bodied and incredibly refreshing, it carries a quiet complexity that makes it more than just an easy sipper. It’s the kind of wine that shines alongside oysters, simple fish dishes, or a plate of alpine cheeses, capturing the cool, mountain air in every sip.

Garnacha ‘Microcosmico’ from Bodegas Frontonio is a beautifully lifted expression of high-elevation Spanish Garnacha, coming from the rugged hills of Valdejalón in Aragón. This wine leans into purity and finesse rather than heavy-handed power, with bright red fruit, crushed herbs, and a subtle mineral edge that reflects its stony soils. There’s a wild, slightly untamed character here—think raspberry, sour cherry, and a touch of white pepper—balanced by fresh acidity and soft, chalky tannins. It’s a thoughtful, terroir-driven take on Garnacha that feels both vibrant and grounded, perfect for pairing with grilled vegetables, lamb, or simply enjoying on its own.

Le Mistral Tier:

Vino Espumoso Extra Brut “Muntanya” from Can Sumoi is a lively, natural sparkling wine from the hills of Penedès, made with minimal intervention and a focus on indigenous varieties. Bright and energetic, it opens with notes of green apple, lemon peel, and wild herbs, followed by a fine, persistent mousse. The “Extra Brut” style keeps things dry and focused, allowing its mineral backbone and subtle savory edge to come through. There’s a rustic elegance here that makes it incredibly versatile—equally at home as an aperitif or alongside salty snacks, seafood, and Mediterranean flavors.

“Monkey Jacket” from Cruse Wine Co. is a playful yet seriously well-crafted red blend that channels a California take on a Southern Rhône style. Juicy and aromatic, it bursts with ripe plum, blackberry, and hints of spice, layered with notes of dried herbs and a touch of earth. Despite its generous fruit, the wine stays balanced and fresh, with silky tannins and an easygoing structure that makes it endlessly drinkable. It’s a crowd-pleaser with personality—perfect for casual dinners, pizza nights, or anything coming off the grill.

Blanc de Mer from Lieu Dit, sourced from Santa Barbara County, is a bright and textured white that showcases the coastal influence of the region. Made from Chenin Blanc, it offers a beautiful balance of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, and a subtle waxy richness, all lifted by vibrant acidity. There’s a gentle salinity and floral nuance that adds depth and intrigue, making it both refreshing and complex. This is a versatile, food-friendly wine that pairs effortlessly with seafood, roast chicken, or creamy cheeses, while still being compelling enough to enjoy on its own.
